"The Bunker"

“The Bunker” will be our educational and events center.

60' wide x 24' deep, it will house our Museum/Artifact Displays.

It is here that we intend to honour Captain Robert Pardell, who was killed in a tutor plane training crash at Moose Jaw and other regional soldiers of note who were not killed during war.

“The Bunker” is intended to become a hive of activity to support education for our youth and our citizens.

“The Bunker” will host school field trips and allow kids to take part in “Project: Soldier Education”.  This is a three station, interactive look at what it was like to be a soldier.

This educational program is being developed for the CMTA by the museum public program education kit coordinator who was sourced for us by the Loyal Edmonton Regiment Museum.

The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Museum is also providing us with access to expert researchers to guide and assist in the telling of these important stories.

The purpose of this “Soldier Education” kit (which will be contained inside of a shippable tote) is to have available for school and community groups this outreach/public program tool.

These groups will investigate how Canadian soldiers communicated, lived and remained optimistic during wartime. Interactive activities include the use of historical objects and documents to compliment the Alberta Learning Social Studies/Language Arts Curriculum Connections: historical thinking and research, Canadian histories and stories.

Through the various events and activities that the Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association intends to host at “The Bunker”, it is our hope that many will come to understand the meaning of the words:

respect, service, sacrifice, loyalty, honour, strength and that they will learn about our local & regional military history and how it fits into the national story of "Canada at War and Peace."

“The Bunker” will be available for the public to rent to host small functions.
