Indigenous Veterans Day started in 1994 as a direct challenge to the Indian Act that prevented Indigenous People from laying a wreath at a Cenotaph. In 1995 they were finally granted the right to lay a wreath.
Indigenous Veterans Day is a special day where Indigenous Veterans and Killed in Action Soldiers are remembered in the cultural and traditional ways of the Indigenous Peoples!
This event is celebrated ON TOP OF not instead of Remembrance Day by Indigenous Peoples across Canada!
